At the meeting for the celebration of the 2009 National Technology Awakening Day yesterday, Richard Mengko, expert for defense and security technology to the Research and Technology Minister, said that creativity and technology should be in line with each other, and creativity without knowledge cannot give much benefit.

Richard said that creativity, knowledge and technology made the country better than others.

“They should become part of our culture,” he said.

For this purpose, Richard and the organizing committee have entitled the celebration: Make it part of our Culture.

This is the sub theme of the 14th National Technology Awakening Day.

Sadjuga, coordinator of the technology awakening day, said that this year’s celebration was different to previous years.

There will be rewards for regency and city governments that were considered to be caring about knowledge and technology development.

The parameters for the award include the amount of budget allocated by regional governments.

“This is the first time we do it this way. We hope it will motivate regional governments,” said Sadjuga.

The celebration will be held on August 10.

The President is scheduled to receive works of creativity and technology created by young Indonesians developed over the past one year.
