The majority of managers in ecommerce departments and organisations are positive about their prospects for the rest of the year.
That’s according to a new poll from digital recruitment firm Bearing Partnership, which found that more than eight of out ten managers expect to hire more staff in 2009.
Almost half of those surveyed were either confident or very confident about receiving a pay rise and 81 per cent believed they could move to other companies if they wanted to.
Aryn Hurst-Clark, director of search and selection at Bearing Partnership, said: ‘Brands will need to service the growing demand for ecommerce from consumers and, in an area currently suffering from a skills shortage, making the right staffing decisions will be critical to the company’s overall business success.
‘Those companies that look closely at ecommerce this year will reap the benefits when the economy picks up.’
Leading industry analysts like Nielsen Online, Hitwise and comScore put total B2B ecommerce sales at £59.8 billion in 2008.
